About Olivia

By the time she was three years old, Olivia Claggett was asking for a harp teacher. At six years old, she began taking piano lessons with Jean Wonders, and at eight she began Suzuki harp lessons with professional harpist, instructor, and adjudicator Candyce Dunham. She never looked back after her first lesson in October 2007. During her many years as a student, Olivia continued to push herself musically by competing in numerous competitions winning the annual Buckeye Christian School Organization’s spring competition for five consecutive years. She expanded her repertoire to include Traditional Celtic music and also went to compete in the Ohio Scottish Games Competition placing second in her category. In her sophomore, junior, and senior years of high school she was invited to South Carolina to the American Association of Christian Schools national competition and placed second in the string solo category.

After graduating from high school, Olivia increased her studies with Candyce Dunham and continues to take weekly lessons. As a young adult she has begun to perform professionally at various events including weddings, funerals, parties, and festivals. Her harp training has prepared her to play as both a Classical and Celtic harpist. In addition to her playing abilities, Olivia also enjoys an excellent rapport with various event and entertainment directors around Ohio.  She would like to thank God for her abilities, her parents, Tim and Becky Claggett, for the opportunity to play, and her teacher, Candyce, without whom none of these opportunities would have ever been possible.
